The Sum of Us: A Conversation with Heather McGhee

Event Details

This event is being sponsored by The Esler Family Foundation and presented by our community of partners. Join the Esler Family Foundation and partners as we welcome New York Times best selling author, renowned expert on the American economy, and former president of the inequality-focused think tank Demos, Heather McGhee, for a talk about the devastating true cost of racism—not just for people of color, but for everyone. Deeply stirring, intelligent, and compassionate, McGhee’s talks offer us an actionable roadmap during one of the most critical—and most troubled—periods in history.

Following her talk, we will hold a moderated Q+A to talk with Heather about how we might take action in the context of Worcester and other Massachusetts Gateway Cities surrounding issues of educational equity and other disparities in our communities.

This event will be held virtually on Zoom. While this event is free, it will require registration for someone to attend.

It is our hope that this event will be another touchpoint for members of the Greater Worcester and Mass Gateway Cities communities to learn about the harmful effects racism has on everyone and how to consider actionable efforts to realize just and equitable places, spaces, and systems that work for everyone.
