Jennifer is the founding- Executive Director of the Worcester Education Collaborative. Jennifer received her Master’s and Doctoral degrees from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and her Bachelor’s degree from Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges. In 1998 she served as Special Assistant to Governor Paul Cellucci of Massachusetts, and a year later she became Director of the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulations under Governor Jane Swift. Dr. Carey served in Governor Mitt Romney’s and briefly in Governor Deval Patrick’s administrations as Secretary of the Executive Office of Elder Affairs. From 2007 until 2009, she oversaw the development of education and training solutions at Commonwealth Medicine, a division of University of Massachusetts Medical School. Before joining Massachusetts state government, Dr. Carey worked at Ohio University, Harvard University and at Bancroft School, a independent K-12 school in Worcester. Dr. Carey is also the founding director of the Initiative for Engaged Citizenship, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that provides educational workshops about effective, meaningful participation in the public policy processes of the local, state and federal governments.

Joseph M. Corazzini
Joe is the Associate Director of the Worcester Education Collaborative. In the Worcester community he serves on the Coalition for the Revitalization of Education in Worcester (CREW), Governor’s Youth Council, Oak Hill CDC, Regional Environmental Council and the Worcester Police Department Youth Summit Committee. From 2005 to 2006, Joe worked with Boston’s Citizen Schools. In 2006 he joined Dynamy as an advisor of the Internship Year and in 2010, became Program Coordinator of Dynamy’s Youth Academy, a college access and leadership program serving low-income, inner-city college students. Joe is a candidate for the Masters of Science in Non-Profit Management at Worcester State College.

Stacie Beland
Stacie is the Collaborative’s first John Basset Fellow in Education and Community. In this role, Stacie works to assure that work and initiatives of the Collaborative are grounded in best practices and sound research. She is a passionate advocate for excellence in public education. Her multi-faceted career has included working directly with young children as a specialist in Autism Spectrum Disorders to her current full time post, as the Professional Advancement Project Director with Edward Street Child Services. Prior to arriving at Edward Street, Stacie served as Secretary to the President at Clark University. Her focused diligence and enthusiasm were key to the creation of the Collaborative. Stacie received her Bachelor’s in Psychology with a concentration in Ethics and Public Policy and is currently working on her Master’s Degree at Clark University, including a thesis focusing on education policymaking.
